A Cultural and Literary Journey through Mesopotamia by English Language and Literature Students
Students from our university's Department of English Language and Literature undertook a cultural trip to Mardin, Diyarbakır, and Siirt as part of the project titled “Literary Echoes of Mesopotamia: Tracing English Literature and Cultural Heritage in Mardin.”
Within the scope of the project, the students had the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Mesopotamian region on-site and engage with it from the perspective of English literature. Through the historical buildings and cultural venues visited in these cities, the relationship between literature and place was questioned, aiming to enhance students’ academic and cultural perspectives.
With this meaningful journey, students achieved significant gains by combining their literary knowledge with field experience through an interdisciplinary approach.
