As part of an event organized by the Department of English Language and Literature at Muş Alparslan University in collaboration with the English Literature Society, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Çelikel, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature at Marmara University, met with our students and academic staff.

The event began with a creative writing workshop held prior to the conference. This session, which saw active student participation, offered a distinctive and productive experience by bringing together theoretical knowledge and creative practice.

The program continued with a lecture held at the Sabahattin Zaim Conference Hall, where Prof. Dr. Çelikel addressed the audience with his talk titled “Colonialism, Colonial Literature, and Postcolonial Literature.” The lecture comprehensively explored the historical background of colonialism, its reflections in literature, and the main areas of discussion within postcolonial writing.

Focusing particularly on concepts such as identity, representation, belonging, othering, and resistance, Prof. Dr. Çelikel provided participants with a critical perspective. The event created a valuable academic platform, especially for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for all attendees interested in the field.

During the Q&A session at the end of the program, participants had the opportunity to ask their questions directly, fostering an interactive discussion environment.

We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Çelikel for his valuable contributions and insightful sharing.
